ITINERARY
Day 1 – Hobart Day Tour
Arrive at Hobart Airport in the morning. Pick up the hire vehicle and head towards Hobart. Our suggestion is to check out the best of what the island capital has to offer. Explore the historic buildings of Salamanca Place, summit the towering backdrop of Mount Wellington, and lose yourself in the contemporary Museum of Old and New Art. You could also begin your journey with a short drive to Richmond, home to Australia’s oldest bridge, or take a wander through the CBD to the shops, cafes, and find yourself some unique dining experiences.
Accommodation: Hobart City
Day 2 – Tasman Peninsula & Port Arthur
Enjoy a nice breakfast and take in the Hobart morning before heading across the bridge, passing the airport and out towards the Tasman Peninsula. Explore the Port Arthur Historic Site, take a cruise around the water, and visit the natural sea cliffs and eroded structures such as the Tessellated Pavement, Devils Kitchen, Tasman Arch, Blow Hole, Waterfall Bay and Remarkable Cave. In the afternoon, head back towards Hobart for a relaxing evening.
Accommodation: Hobart City
Day 3 – Freycinet National Park & Bicheno
An early morning pairs with a drive to the state’s must-see Freycinet National Park. For keen adventurers, there are many long bushwalks around The Hazards Mountain range, but at minimum, we’d highly suggest taking the 1.3km hike up to the incredible Wineglass Bay lookout. Enjoy the afternoon exploring Bicheno and Douglas-Apsley National Park and spend a relaxing evening on the coast.
Accommodation: Freycinet/Bicheno
Day 4 – Freycinet to Cradle Mountain
Begin the day with an early morning in Freycinet and head towards Cradle Mountain National Park. Along the way, pass historic towns and scenic spots. Taking different routes will result in completely different
scenery. Plan your journey. For those keen on adventure, we highly recommend heading Mole Creek direction from Deloraine to visit Mount Roland and the Mersey Forest. This drive will conclude at Cradle Mountain, where you will spend the night alongside nature unlike anywhere else in the world.
Accommodation: Cradle Mountain
Day 5 – Cradle Mountain
Enjoy a beautiful breakfast in alpine Tasmanian wilderness before visiting the national park. There are countless trails and walks to discover and explore. At minimum, we suggest taking the popular walk around Dove Lake to get up close to Cradle Mountain before embarking on your journey to Launceston.
Accommodation: Cradle Mountain
Day 6 – Cradle Mountain - Sheffield - Launceston
Start your day by heading back towards Launceston. We suggest taking the shorter and more relaxing historic town route through Sheffield, and Railton and onto the highway at Elizabeth Town. Once you reach Launceston, feel free to explore the city and some of its attractions such as the Cataract Gorge, or take a short local wine tour, before heading towards Launceston Airport to conclude your journey.
Accommodation: Launceston City
Day 7 – Launceston
Your final day in Tasmania. Return your rental vehicle and make your way to the airport.
